Construction Update: Road Work

Construction Announcement
Kathryn O'Neill, Toddler & Primary Coordinator

I’m writing to share a brief update from this week’s construction meetings with our contractor, architect, and DeKalb County. We continue to see steady progress both inside the new building and across the site, and we are encouraged by the momentum as we move into December.

Road Work & Lane Closures

Beginning Wednesday, December 10, our contractor will begin work in the road to connect the new campus entrance. The county has approved short daytime lane closures between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

  • Morning drop-off will not be affected, as no lane closures are permitted before 9:00 a.m.
  • Afternoon pick-up may be slower, particularly between 3:00 and 4:00 p.m.
  • A professional flagging crew will be onsite to direct traffic and prioritize Arbor families.
  • Access to the school driveway will remain open at all times.

We expect this work to last several days.

Interior & Exterior Progress

Inside the new building, classrooms are taking shape, with tile work, sprinkler lines, and exterior siding all advancing. Outdoors, crews are grading the future outdoor classroom spaces and preparing for upcoming concrete work, steps, sidewalks, and other site features. Weather permitting, this represents the next several weeks of activity.

Utilities & County Coordination

Planning continues for utility tie-ins over Winter Break to minimize disruption on campus. We also remain in good standing with DeKalb County, with inspectors visiting regularly and updated site documentation in progress. The county has confirmed that earlier wetlands concerns have been resolved in the field.

Thank you for your continued patience and flexibility as this important work moves forward. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out.
