Building Construction Update
We know many are anxious to hear about our progress towards moving into our beautiful new building on Lavista Road. While the original projections had us occupying the new building by August 2025, a number of roadblocks have delayed this timeline. A combination of two main factors have set the project back: delays in DeKalb County’s approval process and their lengthy list of requirements, and our design team’s concerted efforts to reduce project costs through what is known as “value engineering.”
The design team at Studio Sogo has worked with Arbor to adjust the original plans, in order to save the most money without compromising our classroom space. While the size and integrity of the classrooms will not change, the overall footprint of the building will shrink to fit our budget. This value engineering process takes time. We are nearly at the end of this work, and demolition and construction will begin soon.
We are optimistic to break ground before the end of the calendar year. After that, it will take about one year for construction. A more exact timeline projection is forthcoming from our contractor in the next several weeks. This means our families at Scott will spend at least one more semester in the Scott building than originally planned. Thank you to our community for your patience as we resolve roadblocks and gain clarity. We continue to work hard to make the transition to one campus as smooth and transparent as possible.
