Arbor Montessori School Announces Leadership Updates
Arbor's Board of Trustees

Arbor Montessori School shares with gratitude that Interim Head of School Alison Sherrill will retire at the end of the 2025–2026 school year, marking more than 30 years of extraordinary service to the Arbor community.

Alison’s impact on Arbor is both deep and lasting. From her earliest days as a summer camp counselor to her leadership as Interim Head of School, she has shaped programs, mentored teachers, supported families, and guided generations of students. Her steady presence, deep Montessori expertise, and lifelong devotion to Arbor have helped define the school we know today.

During the current school year, Alison has served in dual roles as Interim Head of School and Elementary Coordinator. In support of continuity and strong internal leadership, Lora Boyd, current Upper Elementary teacher, will step into the role of Elementary Coordinator beginning in the 2026–2027 school year. Lora is a trusted and respected educator whose experience and care for children make her exceptionally well-suited for this role.

The Board of Trustees is also pleased to share that the Head of School Search Committee is actively interviewing candidates, with campus visits expected to begin in January. These visits will provide opportunities for community participation, and additional details will be shared as they are scheduled.

As Arbor looks ahead, the Board extends its heartfelt gratitude to Alison Sherrill for her decades of leadership, service, and love for the school. We look forward to celebrating this remarkable milestone together as a community, with opportunities to honor Alison planned for the spring of 2026.
