Director of Enrollment & Outplacement

Arbor Montessori School is accepting applications from experienced candidates interested in working in our enrollment and advancement teams starting August 2024. The position offers an opportunity to be part of a closely collaborative administration that deliberately applies the Montessori philosophy and tenets to the whole school community. Arbor values a holistic approach to education and fosters a nurturing, authentic Montessori environment for students.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage Arbor’s enrollment and outplacement processes.
  • Collaborate with school administration and faculty to develop and implement effective enrollment and retention strategies.
  • Build and maintain relationships with prospective families, providing them with information about our school and guiding them through the enrollment process.
  • Coordinate with the admissions team to organize and host events and tours for prospective families.
  • Stay up to date on current Montessori educational practices and trends to effectively communicate the benefits of a Montessori education to prospective families.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred. 
  • Prior experience in admissions and outplacement schools is preferred.
  • Montessori experience and training is preferred. Must be willing to obtain Montessori training as a condition of hire.  
  • Exceptional written and oral communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working with children and parents in a school setting.
  • Proficient with MS Office and databases. Knowledge of FACTS SIS or similar student information systems is preferred. 
  • Self-motivated, flexible, willing to work beyond traditional office hours, including some evening and weekend events.
  • Excellent time and project management skills to handle concurrent workflows, tasks, and deadlines.

Adolescent Program Guide

Arbor Montessori School is accepting applications from experienced candidates interested in working in its adolescent program. This position offers an opportunity to be part of a closely collaborative team of guides in an adolescent program that deliberately applies the Montessori philosophy and tenets in a suburban setting. Adults and students function as a community of learners in an atmosphere of mutual respect and support. Students participate in every facet of a micro-economy, from production and exchange to marketing, advertising, customer service, and more. Driving this micro-economy are practical endeavors such as working in the garden, keeping livestock, and preserving our watershed, which provides context and meaning for challenging academic work.

The position includes a competitive salary plus benefits. Teachers have the opportunity to serve on the Board of Trustees on a rotating basis.

Applicant requirements include:

  • Candidates should have a minimum of a BA or BS degree.
  • Candidates should either have participated in or be willing to participate in the AMI Montessori Orientation to Adolescent Studies or the AMI 12-18 Diploma Course.
  • Experience teaching adolescent students is required.
  • Experience working in a Montessori setting is preferred.
  • Experience teaching adolescent Spanish is preferred.

Adolescent Program Associate Guide & Athletic Director

This position offers an opportunity to be part of a closely collaborative team of guides in an adolescent program that deliberately applies the Montessori philosophy and tenets in a suburban setting. Adults and students function as a community of learners in an atmosphere of mutual respect and support. Students participate in every facet of a micro-economy, from production and exchange to marketing, advertising, customer service, and more. The Associate Guide will serve as a part-time teacher in the adolescent community, and will also coordinate Arbor’s Athletics Program for students in the Upper Elementary and Adolescent Programs, which currently includes Cross Country, Ultimate Frisbee, Basketball, and Flag Football. Instead of being purely focused on competitiveness and winning, Arbor Athletics emphasizes life skills such as inclusion, teamwork, mediation, and nutrition. Students enjoy the positive benefits of an athletic experience regardless of their skill level. The Associate Guide will coordinate with students, parents, and coaches for each sports season. They will maintain Arbor’s affiliation and relationship with the Metro Atlanta Athletic Conference (MAAC) and other teams from other local independent schools. 

Daily hours for this position will be dependent on the athletic season and needs of our teams. The position includes a competitive salary plus benefits. Candidates willing to take more Montessori training will have the opportunity to be sponsored by the school.

  • Candidates should have some understanding of the Montessori philosophy and practice or child development, and commit to further that understanding through professional development. 
  • Experience working with children is required.
  • Experience working in a Montessori setting is preferred.
  • Experience coaching or coordinating school-age athletics highly preferred

Substitute Teachers

Start Date: Immediate

Pay Rate: $15/hour

Arbor is accepting applications for substitute teachers. Substitute teachers may be asked to work at either our Scott or Lavista Campus locations, dependent on need. Arbor follows the traditional school year schedule beginning in August and ending the first week in June. Classrooms are open Monday through Friday. Hours will vary by assignment, but will generally be 8am to 4pm. 

Responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting Arbor’s Montessori classrooms, which serve children from 18 months to 8th grade. 
  • Ensuring children’s safety in the classroom and on the playground.
  • Helping daily to maintain a clean and attractive environment, including resetting the classroom for the next day.
  • Offering polite and appropriate interactions with parents during drop-off and dismissal.

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and be able to pass a Georgia State background check. Bright From The Start certified candidates are preferred. Experience working with children and Montessori classroom experience is preferred, but not required. While a college degree is preferred, it is not required, and current college students are welcome to apply.

Part-Time Enrichment Assistant Teacher

Arbor is accepting applications for a part-time Enrichment assistant teacher based at our Lavista Campus. Arbor follows the traditional school-year schedule, beginning in mid-August and ending the first week of June. Enrichment includes our pre- and after-school care programs and Conference Camps.

This position primarily works with the after-school program. The hours for this position are Monday through Friday, 2:45pm to 5:45pm. This position also works with occasional Conference Camps. The hours during Conference Camp days may differ from the typical daily schedule.

Responsibilities include:

  • Engaging with children ages 5-14 in a variety of after-school activities, including do-it-yourself crafts, indoor games, outdoor games, building toys, etc.
  • Supervising children to ensure safety in the Enrichment classrooms and outdoor spaces (e.g., playground, blacktop).
  • Helping lead teachers maintain a clean and attractive environment, including organizing and monitoring supplies, regularly disinfecting surfaces, and restocking bathrooms as needed, etc.
  • Helping lead teachers plan activities for Conference Camp days.

All Arbor teaching staff are fully vaccinated. Applicants must be willing to follow all COVID protocols as outlined by the school.
