Why Give to Arbor?

Since its founding in 1970, Arbor Montessori has had a strong tradition of parent involvement and financial giving to support our school’s programs, goals and mission.  It is through this tradition of generosity that we ensure a legacy of the highest quality in education and personal development for our children.

Tuition alone does not cover the cost of educating our children.  Donations enhance our children’s academic programs allowing Arbor to keep tuition affordable and provide:

  • Financial assistance to current families in need, which helps maintain a diverse and  rich student experience
  • Continuing education for our incredible teachers and staff, who so profoundly impact our children’s learning and development
  • Necessary funding for our thriving athletic program through the Booster Club

Each year Arbor relies on voluntary financial support from our board, parents, grandparents, faculty, staff, and alumni, parents of alumni, friends and corporate matching gifts through our Annual Fund and Founders Fund.  Additional support comes through our annual fundraising event, the Arbor Auction, as well as Giving Partners, Arbor Store and school picture purchases.

For additional information on how you can support Arbor Montessori School contact our Development Office.

A big thank you to all who gave to Arbor’s 2016 Annual Fund.

Jan Deason Adolescent Program Scholarship Fund

Jan Deason retired in 2017 after more than 30 years of service to Arbor Montessori School. She served as Head of School from 2008 to 2017. Jan’s many accomplishments during her tenure at Arbor include founding the Adolescent program, establishing a permanent home on Scott Boulevard for our second campus (formerly located at the Emory Presbyterian Church) and guiding the opening of Arbor’s first Toddler program. Jan came to Arbor as a parent in 1984 and was initially hired as a Primary assistant. She taught in Lower Elementary from 1986-1991 and then opened Arbor’s second Upper Elementary class. In 1997, she founded Arbor’s Adolescent Program (AP), which has thrived over the past two decades and is known nationwide as a model Montessori middle school.

In honor of Jan’s dedication to the founding and continuation of the Adolescent Program, we have established the Jan Deason Adolescent Program Scholarship Fund to help students continue their Montessori education at Arbor through their 8th year.

Annual Fund

Tuition alone does not cover the cost of educating our children.  To bridge the gap, each year Arbor relies on much-needed donations to enhance our children’s academic programs. This is why a contribution to the Annual Fund is the first and most important gift that we ask of our community every fall. Your financial gift can ensure a legacy of the highest quality in education and personal development for our children while sharing the mission of Arbor.

All donors making gifts to the Annual Fund are offered the opportunity to have their names publicly listed in the Annual Report along with their level of giving.

Check made payable to Arbor Montessori School or a credit card.
Gifts of stock represent a two-fold savings opportunity.  Donors avoid paying capital gains taxes on the increased values of their stocks.  In addition, donors receive a tax deduction for the full market value of the stock on the date of the gift.  Please contact the business office to obtain Arbor Montessori School account information and notify the development office of your gift intentions.
If you or your spouse works for a company that matches charitable gifts, the impact of your contribution can be doubled.  To learn if your company offers matching gifts as an employee benefit simply contact your Human Resources department.  Completed gift forms should be turned in with your donation.
Planned gifts provide current tax advantages to donors while enhancing the support for facilities, endowment or school programs.  Donors may invest in the future of Arbor Montessori through gifts of life insurance or bequests.  Such gifts can provide significant tax advantages to the donor as well as benefits to the school.
