Annual Fund (October through May)
An Annual Fund gift is the single most important gift you can make to Arbor. A letter appeal is mailed out each October asking for a financial donation to the school. Pledge payments may be made monthly, quarterly or annually as a single gift payment.
Annual Fund 2007: Teacher Appreciation Challenge
We are thrilled to announce this year’s Annual Fund Challenge—a unique and exciting opportunity!
To honor and thank Arbor's teachers for the extraordinary work they do with our children, an Arbor family has issued a challenge: if we are able to increase membership in the Phoenix Society by 50% (from last year's 52 members to 78), this family will contribute $26,000 to Arbor!
This is a unique opportunity in Arbor’s history, and we simply must meet this challenge. As of March 6, 2008, we secured 75 qualifiying gifts towards this goal. We encourage you to make a gift of $1,000 this year to help us reach the challenge. For many of you this means increasing your gift by just a few hundred dollars! If you did not contribute to last year’s Annual Fund, this challenge presents the perfect opportunity to begin anew. Your gift can result in Arbor receiving thousands of additional dollars!
Teaching is not a job, it is a calling. Beginning with the founders and continuing through today, Arbor has been truly blessed with the very best of the best. Let’s join Arbor’s generous and thoughtful challenge donor in showing the teachers that their tireless efforts have not gone unnoticed, and are truly appreciated.
Please contact the Development Office for additional information on how you can support Arbor Montessori and the Annual Fund 2007: Teacher Appreciation Challenge.

The Arbor Phoenix
The Phoenix Society was introduced in 2005 to privately thank those who go “above and beyond” by contributing $1,000 or more to the Annual Fund. While we do not publish the names of members or recognize them in any public way, the Board of Trustees and Arbor Staff host a small event each year to privately thank Phoenix Society members for their extraordinary efforts. In its founding year, 41 families, individuals, and businesses joined the Phoenix Society and, together,
contributed $48,400 to Arbor's Annual Fund.
Auction (March)
The Auction is Arbor’s second major fundraiser and is a festive, fun-filled evening for Arbor parents and friends. This is a fun way to be involved in Arbor’s fundraising as the planning and preparation go on year round. Parents and many area businesses donate goods and services to be auctioned. Best of all, each class donates a beautiful class project, lovingly created by parents and children. These projects are our most desired items and the biggest money-makers of the evening!
Founders Fund Endowment (Spring)
The Founders Fund, an endowment fund, was created in 2001 to provide a permanent and lasting resource for faculty and staff enrichment. The Founders Fund endowment will provide financial resources for faculty and staff enrichment. In addition, this fund serves to sponsor new teachers for Montessori training, support community education programs, and to contribute to special classroom projects. A letter appeal is sent to current parents, former parents, grandparents, alumni and friends of the Arbor community.
Special Fundraising Programs
Arbor Store
Spiri Items on sale Year-Round!
Catalog Shopping Spree (September)
This campaign offers parents a focused opportunity to shop for high quality products with a percentage of the purchases (typically 10% to 50% depending on the vendor) going to Arbor. Many families find these catalogs appropriate to share with friends and family members although there is no pressure to do so.
School Pictures (Fall and Spring)
School picture packages are offered to Arbor families in early fall and late spring. Group pictures of each class are taken in the fall only. Arbor receives 25% of picture sales.
Vendor Rebate Partnerships Programs
Kroger & Publix
When you present your Kroger or Publix “Commitment’ card, Arbor receives a percentage of every sale. Cashiers scan cards at the time of purchase. If you have misplaced your cards or need extra cards to share with family members or friends, call or stop by the Development Office (or ask at Arbor's Emory Campus).
Target
If you apply for a Target Credit Card, register to participate in Targets’ Take Charge Education Program and Arbor will receive 1% of all purchases made in Target stores or on-line at www.target.com

In Addition
In addition, you will hear about other events throughout the year that serve as fundraisers for the Middle School and the Athletic Program, notably the Holiday Tree Sale and the Diversity Fair as well as the Middle School Coffee Houses. You are encouraged to support Arbor and show your school spirit by purchasing items from the Arbor Store. Along with assorted school spirit items, each year we offer a new t-shirt design.
Giving To Arbor
Arbor is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit, tax-exempt corporation. All gifts to the school or its endowment are tax-deductible to the extent specified by law.
Gifts of Stock
Arbor is very grateful for gifts of stock. A gift of stock is a beneficial way for you or a family member to give. You can avoid capital gains taxes and take a charitable deduction on your income tax with the donation of appreciated stock. Arbor Montessori can accept your stock gifts by a wire transfer through our broker Charles Schwab and Co. Please contact the Development Office for detailed instructions.
Corporate Matching Gifts
If you or your spouse works for a company that matches charitable gifts, the impact of your contribution can be doubled. Simply investigate whether your company offers matching gifts or contact the Development Office and we will be glad to obtain this information for you. Completed gift forms should be turned in with your donation.
Planned Giving
Planned gifts provide current tax advantages to donors while enhancing the support for facilities, endowment or school programs. While a cash contribution is usually the first method of giving that comes to mind, planned giving alternatives may be more advantageous to the donor. Donors may invest in the future of Arbor Montessori through gifts of life insurance or bequests. Such gifts can provide significant tax advantages to the donor as well as benefits to the school.
