Parent Programs

Guided Observation

We invite you to come out for Guided Observation, a program for parents. led by our Elementary Coordinator. You will meet with a small group of other parents, chat about what to expect in an observation, and then go off to observe in a classroom.  You’ll make some notes and then return to the group for a discussion.

Although we do provide additional opportunities for you to observe in your own child’s classroom, this is the time for you to see a class and/or level ({Primary, Upper or Lower Elementary, Middle School) that is different from the one in which your child is currently enrolled.

Curriculum Night

We strongly encourage you to come to this year's Curriculum Night. It is a great way for you to see Arbor Montessori School and the Montessori Method through your child’s eyes!  Attending Curriculum Night is an essential part of the role Arbor parents play in the education of their children.

Other Items of Interest:

AMI Accreditation

AMI/USA consultants evaluate the school, classrooms and staff every three years for AMI accreditation. AMI-trained teachers and coordinators observe, evaluate, and support classrooms on a regular basis. New teachers receive support and mentoring by coordinators and colleagues. The AMI-trained Education Administrator is also available for observations and consultations. Only AMI-trained professionals are fully qualified to evaluate Arbor’s programs and faculty. The “Cycle of Evaluative Inquiry,” found in the POLICIES AND PROCEDURES section of the parent handbook, reflects Arbor’s commitment to excellence and ensures that all students receive the Montessori education that Maria Montessori intended. Our expertise and commitment to the Montessori philosophy is one of the defining qualities of Arbor Montessori School and is what attracts and retains parents who are strong supporters of our community.

Arbor's Strategic Plan

A Strategic Plan is a means to strengthen the governance of an organization.  A critical element of success in all strategic planning prcesses is the involvement and participation of representatives from all of the organization's stakeholder groups.  By joining in Arbor's Strategic Planning process, Firmly Rooted, Ever Growing, as aTask Force member, Arbor parents helped to broaden the base of understanding, ideas, and options regarding the school's future challenges and opportunities.

“I like how it’s not just the children that get to experience this wonderful environment—it’s truly a community where parents and children alike have a real sense of belonging, respect, and support.”
